Oil on Canvas 48" x 24"
In it's last moments, the sun can only fight its way through the weakest of clouds – giving way to the darkness and deep purple of the night. The water tries its best to reflect what's left of the sun but it still sucumbs to the darkening sky.
The center horizontal balance in the piece represents the equal and constanct fight the light has with the darkness. Purple skies seperate the sky from the water and the sun is a bright orange from the light passing through so much of the atmosphere. Some of that light reflects against the slices of clouds that otherwise would have faded into the background.
