Into the Distance
Oil on Canvas 72" x 36"
The world is shut down. People are isolated and intentionally staying away from each other because of the global virus currently attacking our way of life. While locked away in my home, I have had time to think and I find myself staring off into the distance, looking forward to a possible return to normal. This painting holds hope on the horizon and even if it is obscured or hidden, it still fights to break through.
The shear size of this piece coupled with the challenge of painting on top of an older piece that I didn't care for made my typical approach difficult. As this piece came together, the conflicting previous paintings made it sometimes difficult to invision the ultimate goal. Depth was a key focus of this piece along with the mingling of warm and cool colors. All of this provides a harmony and balance that I strive for in all my works.
