Oil on Canvas 48" x 30"
I consider myself very lucky to live in a place where just out my door, there is a view that can often seem impossible. The mountains, with their impressive size and roughness, can still be so peaceful; especially when they are covered in a techni-color sunset. Looking out over the tops of such tall and imposing peaks and seeing them stretch into the horizon gives me a deep sense of comfort knowing that I am so small compared to it all.
Pushing depth to the fore-front of this piece, I wanted to explore how layering mountains would impact the viewers reaction. Starting with a heavy and crisp mountain (that the viewer is meant to feel like they are perched on top of) and gradually shifting the color and clarity to lighter and more loose grounds this piece and gives a sense of a never ending horizon.
