About This Piece.

I miss flying. My work requires me to travel quite a bit and it's a time for me to pause, reflect a bit, and collect myself but with the pandemic, all work travel has been paused. Being up in the air, I've often seen beautiful colors and shapes that I've tried to capture from time to time.

Changing things up a bit to zoom in more closely to the clouds that I often paint gave me a chance to work on the layering of colors. Starting with the white clouds at the very top and moving through and toward the viewer by adding more depth and color gives shape to the different masses. By including the contrails of the plane, the perspective is shifted and portrays the position of the viewer differently.
