Golden Blue
Oil on Canvas 72" x 30" - Diptych

I was approached by Jim and Elisa to create a painting that would work in their new space. After a few discussions, it became appartent that the work needed to represent an aspect of their lives. Both of them, having grown up out east, were fond of the water and nature that is a staple of New York and Pennsylvania. The ask was to create a slightly abstract perspective of a dreamscape someone would seek out that incorporated the feeling of being "upstate".
The balance between warm and cooler colors was a priority when approaching this work. The cooler colors tend to have a heavier feel so I wanted to make sure they sat on the top of the piece as a way to drive intrigue and interest. However blue skies can have a tendency to feel heavier than they should and the inclusion of clouds breaks the space and gives it a sense of float. The abstract nature of the landscape causes the viewer to look at the piece in multiple ways. At a distance, there is a warm golden space below but upon closer inspection, the swipes of color form shapes that combined create a glimpse of trees that recede into the horizon.
Call or Email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Drop me a line in the space below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
During the day I'm around but may be in meetings, working on a new painting, or just not available. If I don't answer, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
